United Rehabilitation Services (URS) Receives Step up to Quality 5-Star Rating

Dayton Ohio – United Rehabilitation Services’ (URS) Early Childhood Education Program was awarded, for a second three-year term, 5 Stars in the Step Up To Quality Program (SUTQ), a voluntary rating and improvement system for early learning and development programs in Ohio.

The rating system allows licensed childcare providers to earn a rating of one to five stars by meeting an extensive list of quality benchmarks that exceed licensing standards, including low child-to-staff ratios, group size, accreditation, higher education qualifications requiring all teachers have at least a bachelors degree, specialized training, as well as improved early learning standards. “URS is committed to providing high-quality Early Childhood Education Programs so that ALL children are ready to learn when they enter Kindergarten regardless of their abilities.” said Dennis Grant, Executive Director of URS. “Only 8 percent of child care centers in the state of Ohio have the highest rating of 5-Stars,” he added.

URS’ child care programs are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services and serve children, ages 6 weeks through 17 years, with and without disabilities.  The center offers programs for Infants, Toddlers, Preschool/PreK, and School-Age Children with on-site Nursing and Therapy Services under one roof to meet the needs of medically-fragile children.  URS is a provider for HeadStart, Early HeadStart and Preschool Promise and was awarded the Get-Up Montgomery County Healthy Child Care Award of Excellence for exceeding standards in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, and screen time.
