December 23, 2020 As I have said so many times before, the safety and health of the individuals we serve is our highest priority. Since March 2020, United Rehabilitation Services (URS) has taken aggressive steps to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Following the guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control, (CDC), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), we managed to have zero instances of positive COVID-19 cases in clients or staff for more than eight months. Unfortunately, with the recent surge in positive COVID-19 cases in our area, even our extreme vigilance has not been able to prevent a number of children and adults in our care as well as some staff from being infected with the virus. Within the last week, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of individuals we serve and their family members being diagnosed with the COVID-19 coronavirus. In response, we have determined the best way to keep everyone safe and healthy is to close all URS Facility based programs beginning Thursday, December 24, 2020 through Sunday, January 3, 2021. During this closure, we will focus on additional deep cleaning and disinfecting the building and our vehicles. Because many of the individuals we serve have conditions which place them at greater risk to developing this virus, we are asking all families and residential providers to closely monitor each person’s condition as well as their own during this period. Please pursue appropriate medical services for any of the following signs or symptoms and DO NOT have them attend URS programs until they are cleared. Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 may appear two to 14 days after exposure and can include: · Fever · Cough · Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing Please remember that the safety and health of those we serve is our highest priority and is always foremost in our thoughts and minds as we develop our plans. Things are very fluid right now and we will do everything possible to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone. Dennis G. Grant Executive Director |
