A Commitment to Community: Harold and Mary Rieck’s Impact
At United Rehabilitation Services (URS), the legacy of Harold and Mary Rieck stands as a testament to their deep commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities. For over a decade, the Rieck family has played a pivotal role in enabling URS to provide essential services to families facing the unique challenges of disability.
URS: A Lifeline for Families
URS is a vital resource for nearly 100 families daily, offering specialized childcare and therapy services. This support is crucial for parents like Jennifer Bostwick, whose daughters, Kylie and Kensley, find a nurturing environment at URS. Kylie, living with cerebral palsy, benefits from the Preschool Program’s comprehensive services, including on-site nursing and various therapies. Her sister Kensley, attending the Toddler Program, exemplifies the inclusive support URS provides.
Expanding Capacity: The Rieck’s Visionary Support
Recognizing the growing demand for URS’ services, the Riecks were instrumental in the Unlocking PossAbilities Capital Campaign. Their significant contribution led to the creation of the Harold & Mary Rieck Children’s Center, expanding URS’ capacity by 60 children and significantly reducing waiting lists.
Harold Rieck’s involvement with URS extended beyond financial support. Joining the family business, Rieck Services, in 1956, Harold brought his leadership to URS’ Board of Directors, fostering a culture of giving through annual donations, event sponsorships, and promoting volunteerism among his employees. In 2010, Harold and Mary chaired the URS Telethon on WDTN Channel 2, successfully raising over $100,000, impacting thousands of individuals, including over 100 military families from Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
