Building Strength, Confidence & Independence

Physical Therapy involves working towards minimizing physical dysfunction and enhancing an individual's independence, safety, and quality of life.

Our therapists focus on activities that increase flexibility of joints, coordination, balance, strength/endurance, and quality of movement patterns.

We teach individuals and care providers essential skills — how to get in and out of bed, chairs, and cars; walk on level surfaces and stairs; get up from the floor; and generally move with better body mechanics.

What We Offer

Ambulation Training Teaching safe, effective walking techniques with or without assistive devices.
Balance & Motor Coordination Exercises to improve stability, prevent falls, and enhance movement control.
Delays in Motor Skills Helping children reach developmental milestones like rolling, sitting, crawling, and walking.
Wheelchair/Equipment Assessment Evaluating and fitting mobility equipment to maximize independence and comfort.
Home Exercise Instruction Personalized exercise programs for families to continue progress at home.
Orthopedic Injury Treatment Rehabilitation for fractures, sprains, post-surgical recovery, and sports injuries.
Pediatric Orthotic Assessment Evaluating and fitting braces, splints, and supports for children's growing bodies.
Functional Electrical Stimulation Using gentle electrical currents to activate muscles and improve movement patterns.
Kinesio Taping Specialized tape application to support muscles, reduce pain, and improve circulation.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Our pediatric physical therapy promotes independent functioning using specialized techniques and equipment.

Through mobility training, play therapy, and gait training, we strengthen muscles, boost coordination, and improve your child's overall mobility — all while making therapy fun and engaging.

Universal Exercise Unit "Spider Cage"

Our specialized Spider Cage allows patients to work on balance, coordination, and strengthening exercises with support from bungee cords attached to a belt system.

This unique equipment enables individuals to safely practice movements they couldn't attempt otherwise — building confidence while developing strength and motor skills.

Conditions We Treat

Cerebral Palsy A group of disorders affecting movement and muscle tone, caused by damage to the developing brain. Down Syndrome A genetic condition that can affect muscle tone, coordination, and motor development. Spina Bifida A birth defect where the spine doesn't fully close, which can affect movement and sensation in the legs. Torticollis A condition where neck muscles cause the head to tilt or turn to one side. Very treatable with PT! Abnormal Gait Unusual walking patterns that may cause pain, fatigue, or difficulty with balance and mobility. Developmental Delays When a child takes longer to reach movement milestones like sitting, crawling, or walking. Tonal Deficits Muscles that are too tight (hypertonia) or too loose (hypotonia), affecting movement and posture. Muscular Dystrophy A group of genetic diseases causing progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. Brain Injuries Trauma to the brain that can affect movement, balance, coordination, and strength. Congenital Conditions Conditions present at birth that may affect bones, joints, muscles, or the nervous system. Strokes Brain damage from interrupted blood flow, often causing weakness or paralysis on one side of the body. Plagiocephaly Flat spots on a baby's head, often occurring with torticollis. Responds well to PT and positioning.

Therapy for All Ages

Physical therapy isn't just for children. Our therapists work with adults and seniors to improve mobility, manage pain, and regain independence.

To relieve pain, we use heat/cold therapy, electrical stimulation, patient education, and hands-on techniques tailored to each individual's needs.

Success Story
Luna celebrating with arms raised during physical therapy

Meet Luna

Luna is a sweet 11-month-old girl who attends the Gold-Rated child care program here at United Rehabilitation Services. She was referred for a PT screening when she was just 3 months old with concerns for torticollis and plagiocephaly.

Our physical therapy and infant classroom teams worked closely with Luna's mother to provide a home exercise program and regularly discuss progress and plan of care. Luna's mom worked diligently with her on strengthening and stretching at home.

After just 19 sessions of physical therapy, Luna has successfully graduated! She no longer demonstrates a right vs. left sided neck preference, has resolved her torticollis and plagiocephaly, and is now functioning ahead of her age level for gross motor milestones.

We are so proud of Luna and thankful for the opportunity to work with her and her family!
