FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dayton Ohio – In 1987, President Ronald Reagan declared March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to encourage understanding and acceptance for people with disabilities and recognizes the contributions of individuals with disabilities and encourages the community to embrace working together. This month, United Rehabilitation Services (URS) will raise awareness for individuals with disabilities in our community with a variety of activities.

Throughout March, local celebrities including Sandra Brasington, the Office of Governor Mike DeWine, Montgomery County Commissioners Judy Dodge, Debbie Lieberman, and Carolyn Rice, Mike Stevens, Mayor of Clayton, Kim Faris of iHeart Media, Bonnie Melbers of Cox First Media and Danielle Kirk, Alpha Media of Dayton will read inspiring stories to the children and adults URS serves, via Zoom.

URS will partner with Jersey Mike’s annual March “Month of Giving” campaign, which supports local charities across the country. The campaign will culminate with Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving,” on March 31, 2020 from 10 AM to 9 PM at the Dayton area Jersey Mike’s stores. On that day, URS will receive 100% of the proceeds from sales. Since 2011, local Jersey Mike’s stores, owned by Ted Toliver, have donated over $108,000 to URS.
